CONSECRATION WEEK

Each year, we set aside a week to create space, disrupt our rhythms, and consecrate ourselves through prayer and fasting. This is a time to refocus our hearts and minds on Jesus and pursue the things of Him! This year, we invite you to fast and pray with us as we go after the year of TRANSFORMATION.

AS YOU PREPARE

WHAT IS CONSECRATION?

Consecration is the practice of setting ourselves apart for a sacred purpose. It’s an intentional pursuit to grow in the holiness made available to us through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. During this week, we create extra space in our lives to seek God more intentionally. Consecration always involves three steps: cleansing, sacrifice, and devotion.

CLEANSING

CLEANSING

Where do you want to experience breakthrough personally?

SACRIFICE

SACRIFICE

How can you create space for God? What can you remove in order to pursue God more intentionally?

DEVOTION

DEVOTION

How can you incorporate a new practice to grow your love for God?

WHAT IS FASTING

Abstaining from food for a spiritual purpose, because physical hunger deepens our spiritual hunger.

Fasting is a spiritual tool God uses to shift old mindsets, break generational strongholds, spark revival, and advance his kingdom. Waymaker.Church begins each year with a week of prayer and fasting to humble and consecrate ourselves corporately before the Lord and agree in Jesus’ name for a breakthrough.

WHY FAST?

Fasting causes us to hunger for God in a different and deeper way than other spiritual disciplines, and it causes us to pray at a different and deeper level. Fasting helps us hear and receive something new and important from God.

Jesus fasted - Matthew 4:1-11

Fasting is an act of humility - Joel 2:12-13

Fasting helps us hear from the Holy Spirit- Acts 13:2-13

Fasting brings revival - Esther 4

THREE WAYS TO FAST

In addition to abstaining from food, another great addition to your fast might be taking a break from social media and/or other forms of entertainment. Take some time and ask God what He wants for you during this week, and respond accordingly.

NOTE: Consult a physician, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, or taking medication. Determine what will work best for you if your situation does not allow you to do a full liquid fast.

FULL FAST

Eat nothing and drink only liquids.

TWO MEAL FAST

Exclude two meals from your daily nourishment.

ONE MEAL FAST

Exclude one meal from your daily nourishment.

RESOURCES

These books, devotionals, and print materials were curated to help equip you to learn and grow during Consecration Week.
