Us For Them - Week One

Take turns naming things that you have appreciated about Waymaker.Church. Pray for continued discernment and maturity as we go on mission together.

We can all share the same beliefs about Jesus, but that does not mean that we share the same values about following Jesus. Core values determine how we make decisions and how we live. To go on mission together, we will need to know and share values.

In this upcoming series, we are sharing Waymaker.Church’s core values. But the foundational value is that of love. It is God’s love for us, through us, for one another. But the mission of the church isn’t just for us. It’s for others as well. God sends us out to act in love for other believers, our neighbors, and the nations.

Discussion Questions

John 13: 34 So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.

Matthew 28: 18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations,[a] baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Ask the Spirit to guide your group’s time in the Word. Read these verses slowly out loud. Ask a few questions and consider them in silence. What connection do these verses have to each other? How does love affect how we go and make disciples? Where can we name where both love and going flow through our lives? Take time to share your answers with each other.
