Transformation | Week Three

Main Idea

Transformation is fueled by consecration.

To experience real and lasting change, we must set ourselves apart for God. The level of transformation we experience will be shaped by our willingness to consecrate ourselves, cleansing what needs to go, sacrificing what stands in the way, and devoting ourselves more fully to Him.

Scripture Focus

2 Timothy 2:20–21

“In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for special purposes and some for common use. Those who cleanse themselves… will be instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work.”

Joshua 3:5- “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.”

Luke 4:1–2,14 - “Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit…was led by the Spirit into the wilderness…Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit.”

Key Observations:

  • Consecration is about being set apart for God’s purpose, not to earn love, but to respond to it.
  • God shows up where people are set apart and available.
  • The process of consecration involves cleansing, sacrifice, and devotion.
  • Jesus models this in His wilderness journey, He enters full of the Spirit, but returns in power.

Group Discussion

  • What Does It Mean to Be Set Apart?
  • Have you ever set something apart that was special to you? What made it sacred?
  • How does that idea translate into our relationship with God?

Read 2 Timothy 2:20–21 and Joshua 3:5 Aloud

  • What stands out to you about the relationship between consecration and usefulness?
  • Why do you think God often does “amazing things” after people consecrate themselves?

Identify the “Three Parts”

  • Cleansing – What’s something God is revealing in your life that needs to be confessed or removed?
  • Sacrifice – What rhythms, comforts, or habits might you be called to lay down during consecration week?
  • Devotion – What spiritual rhythms can you increase to fill the space God wants to use?

Discuss the Why

  • What would change in your spiritual life if you truly believed that God wants to visit and transform you?
  • What holds you back from fully engaging in consecration?

Application: Consecration Week

  • Participate corporately:

Prayer Gatherings:

  • Sunday Night Kickoff (Jan 25)
  • Morning Prayer Sets (Monday–Friday, 7am in the Black Box)

Fasting:

  • Full fast, partial fast, or evening-to-evening fasts

Ask These Three Questions:

  • Where do I need breakthrough?
  • Ask God to reveal areas of struggle, bondage, or resistance.
  • How can I create space?

Consider what you can remove (media, food, noise) to hear from God more clearly.

  • How can I increase my devotion?

Add time in prayer, Scripture, worship, or generosity.

Prayer Focus

  • Consecration – Ask God to show you what needs to be cleansed, sacrificed, or devoted in your life.
  • Breakthrough – Invite God to move in areas where you’ve been stuck or longing for more.
  • Expectancy – Pray for Waymaker Church to encounter the presence and power of God during this season.

Response Challenge

  • Choose your consecration rhythm this week.
  • Invite your family or small group to fast or pray together.
  • Attend one of the corporate prayer sets or the Sunday night kickoff.
  • Create a plan for your personal time with God during the week—what will you remove, and what will you add?
