Seasons of the Soul | Week Five | Spring

Home Guide: Seasons of the Soul – Week 5: Spring of the Soul
Main Idea
Spring emerges when our soul is emptied of old formulas and surrendered to new formation. In Jesus’s kingdom, empty nets aren’t failure; they’re invitation.
Scripture Focus
• John 21:3 – “I’m going out to fish,” Simon Peter told them… but that night they caught nothing.
• John 21:6 – “Throw your net on the right side…”
• John 21:12 – “Come and have breakfast.”
• John 21:17 – “Feed my sheep… Follow me.”
Group Discussion
1. What Do You See?
Read John 21:1–19 aloud together.
• What stands out to you about Peter’s actions and emotions in this passage?
• How does Jesus interact with the disciples after their failure?
2. What Do You Feel?
• Have you ever returned to something familiar out of discouragement? What was that like?
• What “empty nets” in your life has Jesus used to bring about new direction?
3. What Do You Believe?
• Jesus recreates Peter’s place of failure in order to heal him. What does this teach us about grace?
• What keeps us clinging to the old instead of embracing God’s renewal?
Application
Let Go and Step Forward
• What is Jesus inviting you to release right now: fear, pride, control, regret?
• What new step of obedience might He be calling you into?
Challenge This Week:
Practice renewal by doing one of the following:
• Obey – Respond to a new prompting from the Holy Spirit.
• Release – Confess a fear or regret that’s keeping you stuck.
• Rest – Spend 15 minutes simply being with Jesus; no asking, just receiving.
Prayer Focus
• Receptivity – “Jesus, help me recognize when You are calling from the shore of my routine.”
• Restoration – “Redeem what I’ve failed or feared—bring new life to what feels dead.”
• Readiness – “Make me ready to follow You, even if it looks unfamiliar or uncertain.”
