Harvest Recast | Week Two

Harvest Recast | Week Two

Opening

Ask Your Group:

  • Have you ever experienced rejection for doing something right or faithful?
  • When you think about being rejected—especially for your faith—what emotions or memories come to mind?

Then Ask:

  • Why do you think rejection often leads us to self-protection instead of mercy and love?
  • What would it look like to let God use rejection to grow compassion in us instead of bitterness?

Overview

Scripture: Luke 10:16; Acts 3:1–20; Acts 4:16–20

Main Idea

Harvest workers are people who live sent—offering the love, mercy, and message of Jesus, even when it means rejection. Peter and John remind us that bold faith isn’t about avoiding resistance—it’s about noticing people, pointing to Jesus, and persevering through hardship. Rejection in harvest work isn’t personal failure; it’s often part of God’s redemptive plan.

Key Insight

We can’t be harvest workers and protect our comfort and fear of rejection at the same time. Rejection isn’t the end of the story—it’s often the soil in which God cultivates mercy, boldness, and revival.

Discussion Questions

  • What stands out to you from the story in Acts 3?
  • What do you think it means to “give what you have” in the name of Jesus, as Peter said to the man at the gate?
  • Why is it so tempting to retreat into comfort and control when we feel rejected?
  • Have you ever seen someone come to faith after a long season of rejecting God?

  • What would it look like in your life to live with that kind of courage and obedience to God?

Closing

Take time to pray together:
  • Ask God to reveal any fear, bitterness, or self-protection that keeps you from loving boldly.
  • Invite the Holy Spirit to fill your group with courage, compassion, and endurance.

  • Pray for the people in your lives who may be rejecting the gospel right now—ask God to draw them toward repentance and renewal.
  • Thank Jesus for continuing to pursue us with grace, even when we resist or reject Him.
