Good News | Week Two

OPENING:
- What’s the loudest or most exciting celebration you’ve ever been part of? (e.g., sporting event, parade, wedding, etc.)
- Follow-up: What made people feel free to celebrate so openly?
OVERVIEW:
SCRIPTURE:
Zechariah 9:9; Luke 19:36–40
Jesus is the humble King who deserves public praise and proclamation. When we stay silent—because of fear, fatigue, or forgetting—we lose our way, witness, and wonder. But the Holy Spirit empowers us to boldly speak, sing, and celebrate the goodness of King Jesus.
MAIN IDEA:
Palm Sunday is more than a tradition—it’s a bold declaration that the true King has come, not in force but in humility. Zechariah’s prophecy to a weary people announced a righteous, victorious, and lowly King riding on a donkey. Jesus fulfilled this in His triumphant entry, and the people responded with undeniably visible, joyful, and loud worship. However, some were uncomfortable with their bold praise and wanted it silenced. Jesus replied, “If they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”
Today, many of us struggle to proclaim and praise Him out loud. We fear discomfort, we’ve grown tired or cynical, we think it’s someone else’s job, or we’ve simply forgotten the wonder of Jesus. But our King still deserves a public response. As we approach Easter, we’re invited to reclaim our voice—telling our story, singing with joy, and proclaiming the goodness of the One who still saves.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
- When has God moved in your life in a way that made you want to praise Him?
CLOSING:
Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to remove fear, rekindle wonder, and give you boldness to proclaim the goodness of King Jesus this week.
