Global Sunday – Week of September 28, 2025

Main Passage: Luke 7:36–50

Theme: Forgiveness Fuels Mission

Main Idea

When we remember how much we’ve been forgiven, we overflow in love and live sent into God’s mission. Forgetting forgiveness shrinks our love; remembering forgiveness enlarges it and sends us to the nations.

Scripture Focus

  • Luke 7:47 – “I tell you, her sins—and they are many—have been forgiven, so she has shown me much love. But a person who is forgiven little shows only little love.”
  • Luke 7:36–50 – The woman with the alabaster jar
  • Romans 10:14–15 – “How can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard?”

Group Discussion

1. What Do You See?

Read Luke 7:36–50 aloud. What differences do you notice between Simon the Pharisee and the woman who anointed Jesus? What details in the story stir your heart? Why?

2. What Do You Feel?

Can you recall a time you forgot how much God forgave you? What impact did that have on your spiritual life? When has remembering God’s forgiveness stirred you to action—worship, generosity, or mission?

3. What Do You Believe?

“The size of our mission will never outgrow the size of the forgiveness we remember.” What does this mean for you personally? Do you believe God can use you—your life, your resources, your voice—for global mission?

Application

  • GO: Is God prompting you to cross a street, a city, or a sea? What step might you take this month?
  • GIVE: What’s your “alabaster jar”? What treasure might God be calling you to pour out for His global mission?
  • GET READY: What pride, fear, or comfort do you need to lay down so you’re ready to say YES when God calls?

Challenge: Before next Sunday, do one of the following: Have a conversation with someone from a different culture. Begin a new rhythm of giving toward global missions. Ask God in prayer where He wants to send you.

Prayer Focus

Gratitude: Thank Jesus for the full weight of forgiveness He has given you.

Intercession: Pray for specific missionaries and global workers Waymaker Church supports.

Commission: Ask the Spirit to send your group as ambassadors across the street or across the globe.
