Get Prepared | Harvest | Week Three

Opening:
As our church heads into Consecration Week, take time to ask your group if anyone would like to share how they plan to consecrate themselves next week. Has the Lord been revealing areas of their lives they need to surrender to Him? Who are they praying for to believe in and follow Jesus? Encourage your group to pray throughout the week for God to move powerfully in their families, friends, church, nations, and the next generation.
Overview:
Partnership with Jesus to bring in the Harvest requires greater dependency, a new mindset, and fervor like never before.
Discussion:
1. Read Luke 10:2
• Would you consider yourself one of the “few workers” being sent into the fields? Why or why not?
2. Read John 4:35
• What is Jesus’ encouragement to the disciples in this verse?
• Discuss the idea that there is a new way to look at the Harvest.
Jim W. Goll states:
“I think Jesus is saying something here that we don’t normally comprehend. If we truly lift up our eyes to see with God‘s eyes, our vision is going to be filled with the horrifying condition of hurting people who are separated from Christ! In one sense, we don’t need to ask God for a special ‘burden’ to go into the fields. We need only open our eyes to see men as God sees them. Then, our hearts will be moved with a burning compassion that stems directly from the Father heart of God.”
• What happens when we fail to look through the lens of compassion?
• What negative attitudes and mindsets might we fall into?
3. Read Matthew 9:35-36
• Why was Jesus moved with compassion in this passage?
• How can we model Jesus’ heart for those who are spiritually lost, vulnerable, and in need of guidance?
Practice:
Like Jesus, we must see those who are spiritually lost through the lens of compassion and take action to guide and help them.
If you have time, read Acts 26:16, 18 Now get to your feet! For I have appeared to you to appoint you as my servant and witness. Tell people that you have seen me, and tell them what I will show you in the future.
verse 18 to open their eyes, so they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God. Then they will receive forgiveness for their sins and be given a place among God’s people, who are set apart by faith in me.’
As a group, take a moment to reflect on how these verses can be applied to your life. Pray for one another, asking the Holy Spirit to open your eyes to see those you encounter with compassion. Pray for the strength to push past negative and unbiblical thoughts and attitudes, so you can effectively reach the harvest in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Challenge your group to:
1. Spend intentional time this week praying for someone in their life who is far from Jesus.
2. Ask God to open their eyes to see others as He sees them.
3. Reflect on practical ways they can show compassion and take action to guide someone toward Christ this week.
Closing:
End with prayer, asking the Spirit to ignite a deeper compassion and readiness to partner with Jesus in bringing in the Harvest.
