Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday

Opening

Why is it Good News that Jesus rose from the dead in a broken and chaotic world?
When faith feels disconnected from the pain or confusion around you, how do you respond?

Overview

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 15:17–26

Paul teaches that if Jesus hadn’t risen, our faith would be meaningless, and sin and death would still have the final word. But because Jesus has been raised, we are invited into a new story filled with grace, healing, forgiveness, and resurrection. This new life is not earned, but it does require our yes.

Main Idea

If Jesus hadn’t risen, we’d still be trapped in sin, our faith would be empty, and death would have the final say. But because He has risen, we’re invited into resurrection life—a new way of living shaped by purpose, power, and promise.

Paul contrasts the brokenness we inherited through Adam with the restoration and hope offered through Christ. Though we still face chaos and pain, Jesus is already at work—reigning now, dismantling evil, healing what’s broken, and empowering us to live with bold faith.

Resurrection doesn’t guarantee an easy life—it anchors us in a hopeful one. We live in the space between Christ’s victory over the grave and the day He will bring a final end to evil, injustice, suffering, and death.

Discussion Questions

  • How does the resurrection of Jesus give you hope in the middle of a world that still feels broken and unpredictable?
  • Where is God inviting you to live with resurrection purpose, power, or promise this week?

Closing

Pray for eyes to see where resurrection is needed in the world around you and the courage to be part of God’s redemptive work. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you live with purpose, power, and confidence—even when life feels uncertain.
