Built for This | Week Two

Opening
Ask your group:
• What’s something you once started but never finished? (A project, a class, a goal.)
• What held you back—discouragement, distraction, or something else?
Then ask:
• When have you felt like your contribution didn’t matter—or that someone else was better suited for the job?
Overview
Scripture: Ephesians 2:8–10; Nehemiah 2:11–20
Main Idea: We weren’t just saved from sin—we were saved for purpose. God's grace doesn’t just restore us; it calls and equips us to join Him in rebuilding what’s broken. But many of us settle—out of fear, comparison, or apathy—and miss the good work we were built to do.
Nehemiah didn’t settle. He carried a holy burden, shared a clear vision, and rose up—even in the face of resistance. His story reminds us: we were built to say yes to God’s mission and help restore what’s been lost.
Discussion Questions
1. In what ways have you felt tempted to settle or shrink back from something God may be calling you to?
2. Where do you see “ruins” in your life, family, or church that God might be inviting you to help restore?
3. What resistance (internal or external) has made it hard for you to say yes to a vision or calling?
4. Nehemiah’s vision moved the people from disgrace to dignity. Where might God want to bring restoration through your obedience?
Application
Ask each person:
• What’s one step of obedience or burden you sense God calling you to carry this week?
• How can we help you follow through with that?
Closing
Pray together for the courage to say yes to God’s mission. Ask for the Spirit to stir holy burdens and help your group rise together in unity and purpose.
Optional: Take time to encourage one another by naming gifts or callings you see in each other.
