Built for This | Week Three

Opening
Ask your group:
• Have you ever wanted to give up on something—your job, a relationship, or even your faith? What brought you to that point?
• What helped you keep going—or what might’ve helped if you had continued?
Then ask:
• Why do you think we tend to quit even good things God calls us to? What usually wears us down?
Overview
Scripture: Philippians 1:6; Nehemiah 6:15–16; 12:27–43
Main Idea: We all face moments where we feel like giving up—on the work, the mission, or even ourselves. But the gospel isn’t just about starting strong—it’s about finishing well. God never stops what He starts. His Spirit strengthens us to endure, and our perseverance becomes part of His story and our witness.
Nehemiah didn’t quit when the opposition intensified—he pressed on and completed the wall. And what followed was even greater: a joyful celebration of God’s faithfulness and a spiritual revival among the people. This week reminds us: we’re not just building walls—we’re building a witness to God’s glory.
Discussion Questions
1. What causes you to lose motivation or joy in something God once called you to?
2. Read Nehemiah 6:15–16. Why do you think God waited to complete the wall in this specific way and time? What did it reveal?
3. Why is comparison such a strong temptation when we’re trying to stay faithful? How do you battle that?
4. Nehemiah 12 shows the people rejoicing with music and celebration. What’s something in your life or our group that’s worth stopping to celebrate?
Application
Ask each person:
• What’s one area where you’ve been tempted to quit? What’s one way you can press on this week instead?
• What’s one recent “God win” or breakthrough in your life that you haven’t yet celebrated?
Closing
Pray together for renewed strength to finish well in what God has called each person to. Ask the Holy Spirit to stir fresh joy and endurance.
Optional: Celebrate a win together as a group—something God has done in someone’s life, through your group, or in the church. Let your rejoicing strengthen your resolve to keep going.
