Be Transformed | Week Two

Main Idea

Jesus doesn’t invite us to simply visit His love—He invites us to remain in it. Transformation happens as we stay connected to Jesus through humility, obedience, and a daily resolve to remain.

Scripture Focus

John 15:1–11

Key Observations

  • A branch cannot produce life on its own. Our role is not to create spiritual life, but to stay connected to Jesus and receive life from Him.
  • Remaining in Jesus is more than a one-time decision. It is a continuous, daily relationship with Him.
  • We do not remain in God’s love to earn it. We remain because we have already received His love through Jesus.
  • Humility reminds us that we need Jesus, obedience keeps us walking in His love, and resolve helps us stay connected when life pulls us away.

Group Discussion

  1. Jesus says, “Apart from me you can do nothing.” Where are you most tempted to rely on yourself instead of depending on Jesus?
  2. Pastor David compared remaining in God’s love to making somewhere your home instead of treating it like a hotel. What does it look like to make your relationship with Jesus part of your everyday life instead of something you occasionally visit?
  3. Which of these three postures of remaining is most challenging for you right now?

    • Humility: Recognizing your dependence on Jesus
    • Obedience: Choosing to follow what Jesus says
    • Resolve: Intentionally staying connected when distraction or difficulty pulls you away
  4. Pastor David said, “Nobody drifts into abiding.” What are some things in your life that naturally pull you toward disconnection from Jesus?
  5. Jesus says, “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.” How would your relationship with God change if you lived each day fully convinced that you are already deeply loved by Him?

Application

This week:

  • Identify one area where you have been relying on your own strength and intentionally bring it to Jesus in prayer.
  • Choose one simple daily rhythm that will help you remain connected to Jesus—reading Scripture, praying, worshiping, or creating space to be with Him.
  • Make one pre-decision about how you will remain connected when life gets busy, difficult, or distracting.

Prayer Focus

Ask God to help you recognize your need for Him, obey His voice, and develop the resolve to remain connected to Jesus every day. Pray that your life would produce the fruit, joy, and transformation that come from making your home in His love.
