BE TRANSFORMED | Week Four

Main Idea

God didn't transform us just so we could stay comfortable. As we receive His grace, remain in His love, and allow His Spirit to renew our minds, we are sent to run on His mission.

God’s mission is growing His Kingdom by leading people to Jesus to worship Him, grow in Christlikeness, and reach those who don’t know Him.

Scripture Focus

Matthew 28:18–20

Jesus sends His followers to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them and teaching them to obey everything He commanded. He also promises that we never go alone—He is with us always.

1 Corinthians 9:19–27

Paul describes a life intentionally shaped around reaching others with the Gospel. He compares following God’s mission to running a race with focus, discipline, and an eternal purpose.

Key Observations

  • We were made to run. Receiving God’s grace, remaining in His love, and renewing our minds should eventually move us outward toward others. Our purpose is never achieved by simply pursuing our own comfort.
  • People are the point. Paul was willing to adjust his approach to connect with different people so that as many as possible could know Jesus.
  • Lead with compassion and truth. Paul adapted his approach without compromising what was true. Following Jesus means consistently showing people love while courageously holding onto God's truth.
  • Vision drives discipline. Paul compares our mission to an athlete training for a race. Discipline motivated by duty, shame, or approval leads to burnout, but discipline driven by a clear vision gives us a reason to keep running.
  • Kingdom investment is never wasted. When we share Jesus, serve others, and invest our resources into God’s Kingdom, we get to participate in His redemptive story.

Three Ways to Run on God’s Mission

1. Share Jesus

Who has God placed in your life who needs to experience His grace? Begin by praying for them, investing in the relationship, and looking for opportunities to invite them toward Jesus.

Pray → Invest → Invite

2. Shape Lives

God has uniquely gifted you to make a difference in someone else's life. Serving isn't simply filling a need—it is stepping into the good works God created you to do.

Ephesians 2:10

3. Sow Resources

Everything we have can be used for Kingdom impact. Our finances, time, abilities, relationships, businesses, and opportunities can all become resources God uses to impact others.

Group Discussion

  1. Paul was willing to inconvenience himself so others could know Jesus. Where has comfort become a bigger priority than mission in your life?
  2. Who is one person God has already placed around you that you could intentionally pray for, invest in, or invite toward Jesus?
  3. Think about the three ways we run on mission: Share, Serve, and Sow. Which one is God challenging you to grow in during this season? What could taking a real step look like?

Application

Running on God’s mission doesn't require doing everything at once. Choose one intentional step this week:

  • SHARE: Pray for, invest in, or invite someone who doesn't know Jesus.
  • SERVE: Use your gifts to help shape someone else's life.
  • SOW: Look at what God has placed in your hands and intentionally use some of it for Kingdom impact.

Prayer Focus

Ask God to give you a greater vision for the people He has placed around you. Pray for courage to move beyond comfort, wisdom to know how to connect with people, and opportunities to share His grace and truth.

Pray specifically for the people God has placed on your heart who do not yet know Jesus.

Response Challenge

Ask yourself three simple questions this week:

Who’s my one life? Who can I pray for, invest in, and invite?

Who has God made me to be? How can I use my gifts to serve someone else?

What’s in my hands? What resource can I invest for Kingdom impact?

Don't just think about your next step—take it. God has transformed us so that together we can run on His mission.
